Burley Gate Pre-school was founded in 1975. It is situated in an outstanding rural location within the grounds of Burley Gate Primary School and next to the village hall, in a purpose built log cabin, which was funded by the National Lottery Charities Commission in 2005.
The pre-school is open to children from 2 years to pre-school age and provides high quality care and nursery education. There are 24 child places per day with high staff to child ratios.
Sessions are term-time, Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 3.30pm. Half-day sessions are available to suit individual needs. Cooked lunches are available on request. Childcare vouchers are accepted.
The pre-school is equipped with an interactive touch screen white board, which the children can use. There is other ICT equipment, an abundance of good quality toys, role-play, messy play, lots of cooking, creative make and stick, and even country dancing!
The pre-school has an extensive outdoor area which is used daily and has recently been landscaped and extensively equipped for exciting and stimulating play and exploration, providing lots and lots of fun! We also have the use of the school’s playing field, outdoor classroom and nature reserve.
Also, we have other child-centred organisations come in and run events for us such as Wildplay, Sealegs and Arts Alive as well as visits from fire officers, vets and music man Pedro. Previously, we have had field trips to Shortwood Farm, Bromyard Library and Green Farm Ploughing match. We regularly attend workshops and other events at Burley Gate Primary School.
The principles of Early Years Foundation stage curriculum is followed in a child-centred environment with highly qualified and experienced staff. Also, Burley Gate Pre-school staff ensure that parents are considered full partners in their child’s learning and development.
We have excellent partnership and transfer arrangements particularly with Burley Gate Primary School, but also with Ashperton Primary School, Bodenham Primary School, St Peters, St Richards and a number of other independent schools.
Not only do we have an ‘Good’ Ofsted inspection, but we hold the Silver and Bronze quality assurance awards.
The pre-school operates under a committee of parents and volunteers who are responsible for the policies, finance and staffing of the Pre-school. The same group organise fund raising events to help support and enhance our aims. If you would like to join the Pre-school committee please contact Alison Panniers at the Pre-school or on 01432 820246.
All these experiences at Burley Gate Pre-school combined make learning and development for all children formative, positive and inspiring. Come and see for yourself!
